The Spectacular Solar Corona during the Total Eclipse of the Sun on
August 11th, 1999
On August 11, 1999, I was fortunate to successfully witness the last total
solar eclipse of the second millennium from Hungary, in the town of Balatonfüred,
on the shore of Lake Balaton. I have put together this set of web
pages to help convey this memorable experience to you. These pages
include a discussion of the eclipse details and why I chose to go to Hungary
to view the eclipse, my adventures in Budapest, preparing for the eclipse,
my equipment set up, details of the events of eclipse day (with wide and
close up photos of the corona as well as frames from my camcorder), and
a discussion of various environmental measurements that I made. I
welcome you to check out my experience using the table of contents below.
